In the first minisode of this season, Kelly Freaney, Senior Training Consultant joins us to talk about what it means to be a ‘dual member’.

Whether you’ve had a break in service or if you’re impacted by 2015 Remedy (McCloud), Kelly talks us through everything you need to know about your pension, how to keep track of all of your benefits, and what to consider when it comes to retirement planning.

Kelly explains that one of the advantages of being a dual member is the ability to partially retire with your legacy scheme benefits, while your alpha benefits continue to build up. The legacy schemes may have a different minimum pension age and normal pension age, which means you could have greater flexibility when you’re planning for retirement. Though, claiming your pension before your normal pension age will mean your benefits are reduced.
